As a certified public accounting firm, providing a quality product is of the utmost importance to us. SS&G's quality is assured through its participation in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Peer Review Program (AICPA) in which we are reviewed every three years by a designated professional accounting firm for quality and compliance with professional standards. SS&G's most recent peer review, completed in 2007, reflects a "clean" opinion, with a "no comment" letter, verifying our adherence to professional standards. In addition to the external peer review, we perform an annual internal inspection of our engagements to ensure the quality of our work.
SS&G is a registered member of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) and is subject to the organization's periodic review. In our 2008 inspection report from the PCAOB, we received a clean opinion, (i.e., "no comments") regarding our audit performance or system of quality control.
SS&G is also a member of the AICPA Employee Benefit Plan Audit Quality Center. As a member of this group, SS&G demonstrates its commitment to quality by voluntarily agreeing to all membership requirements. In addition, our benefit plan audit practice was recently reviewed by the Department of Labor (DOL), and although no formal report is issued, there were no comments or other items that required additional follow-up.
In addition, SS&G is a member of the AICPA Government Audit Quality Center. We adhere to all membership requirements, which include offering training and quality control programs specific to governmental audits, performing annual internal inspection procedures that include a review of the firm's governmental audit practice, and designating an audit partner to have firmwide responsibility for the quality of governmental audits.
