In addition to our strong nonprofit practice of more than 200 clients, we are committed to ensuring that our communities are a better place to live and work. We recognize our responsibility of good corporate citizenship and accept our duty to the betterment of the communities where we live and work.
Nonprofit Board Participation
SS&G donates thousands of hours to pro bono work, providing accounting services to a diverse group of nonprofit organizations. In addition, more than one-fourth of our staff actively sits on nonprofit boards in a leadership capacity, and three-fourths volunteer for a nonprofit organization or one of its committees.
Dollar$ for Denim Days
Employees donated almost $10,000 in exchange for wearing jeans on select Fridays throughout 2009. Recipients of the program included local chapters of the American Heart Association, United Way, American Diabetes Association, Alzheimer's Association, American Red Cross, and the Susan G. Komen Foundation as well as local food banks and animal shelters.
Charitable Giving
SS&G gave generously in donations and sponsorships to nonprofit organizations in 2009, including the Columbus Medical Association, Shaw JCC, Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, North Coast Community Homes, and Hattie Larlham. SS&G also donates equipment, such as printers and computers, to area organizations; in 2009, this included the Cleveland Artists Foundation, Stafford Elementary School, Maple Heights City Schools, and Family Pride.
Alzheimer's Association Support
In 2009, SS&G teamed up with the Alzheimer's Association of Greater Cleveland to support its annual gala. The event raised more than $250,000 for research and care. Additionally, SS&G has supported the Cleveland and Greater East Ohio Area Chapters of the Alzheimer's Association for more than a decade with its annual golf outing. To date, the firm has raised more than $300,000.
Annual Holiday Donation
SS&G makes an annual holiday donation in honor of clients and friends of the firm. In 2009, SS&G employees selected local domestic violence shelters as the recipients of the contribution. Each year, employees nominate and vote on the charity of choice.
Tickets for Kids
SS&G is proud to donate sporting event tickets to Tickets for Kids Charities, which creates opportunities for deserving children to experience arts and cultural, educational, sporting, and family entertainment events and activities in their communities nationwide.
Road Runner Akron Marathon
Since its inception, SS&G has been a proud sponsor of the Road Runner Akron Marathon held in September. The marathon is organized by the Akron Marathon Charitable Corporation, a nonprofit group that is dedicated to promoting health and fitness in the Akron community.
