SS&G is committed to ensuring our communities are a better place to live and work. We recognize our responsibility of good corporate citizenship and accept our duty to the betterment of the communities where we live and work.
SS&G donates thousands of hours to pro bono work, providing accounting services to a diverse group of nonprofit organizations. In addition, more than a quarter of our staff actively sits on nonprofit boards in a leadership capacity, and a majority volunteer for at least one nonprofit organization.
Serve, Share & Give (SS&G).
This firmwide program encourages employees to volunteer their time by participating in organized charitable activities during normal work hours. This program allows employees the opportunity to “give back” to the community. Employees volunteered hundreds of hours at foodbanks, soup kitchens, community cleanups, charitable events, and more!
Dollar$ for Denim Days
Employees donate $5 in exchange for wearing jeans on select Fridays. Recipients of the program included the American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association, Alzheimer's Association as well as local food banks, children's hospitals, and animal shelters. In 2013 alone, the firm raised nearly $10,000 through Dollar$ for Denim!
SS&G gives thousands of dollars in donations, sponsorships, pro-bono work, and items to nonprofit organizations, including the Columbus Metroploitan Club, Shaw JCC, Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine, Northern Ohio ALS, The Gathering Place, Cleveland Development Foundation, Goodwill Industries, Milestones, Greater Akron Chamber of Commerce, Stewart's Caring Place, LifeBanc, local universities, and North Coast Community Homes.
Alzheimer's Association Support
SS&G's Annual Memorial Golf Classic benefiting the Cleveland and Greater East Ohio Area Chapters of the Alzheimer's Association has raised more than $400,000. The event supports the advancement of research and assistance for those living with Alzheimer's disease, as well as their families and caregivers.
Annual Holiday Donation
Each year, SS&G employees choose a charity to receive a holiday donation in honor of clients and friends of the firm. For 2013, SS&G employees selected The CJD Foundation.
In additon to our firmwide donation, the offices of SS&G select a local holiday program to wotk with each holiday season. For example, in 2013, our Columbus office donated more than $250 in gift cards, along with coats, toys, clothes, art items, games, and other necessities to the Huckleberry House.
Tickets for Kids
SS&G is proud to donate sporting event tickets to Tickets for Kids Charities, which creates opportunities for deserving children to experience arts and cultural, educational, sporting, and family entertainment events and activities.
Since its inception, SS&G has been a proud sponsor of the Akron Marathon, presented by Time Warner Cable. The marathon, held each September, is organized by the Akron Marathon Charitable Corporation, a nonprofit group dedicated to promoting health and fitness in the Akron community.
SS&G supports the United Way and its efforts to improve the lives of others through education and financial stability during their annual campaign.
