Audits of Employee Benefit Plans
Our employee benefit plan audit team has extensive experience performing audits of a variety of benefit plans: defined contribution, defined benefit, and health and welfare benefit plans, including plans that require SEC filings.
The professionals in our audit group work closely with our Retirement Plan Design and Administration (RPDA) department to evaluate and ensure our clients' adherence to current governmental regulations. Additionally, our RPDA team members prepare or review each plan's Form 5500 for consistency with the financial statements and other compliance matters.
SS&G is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants' Employee Benefit Plan Audit Quality Center. As a member of this group, we have voluntarily agreed to establish firmwide training and quality control programs, perform annual internal inspection procedures, make the firm's peer review report findings publicly available, and adhere to all other membership requirements.
Merger & Acquisition Consulting
The specialists in our assurance services department understand the intricacies that are involved with mergers and acquisitions. Each client's situation is different, so our work is very project-driven. We understand the need for proper planning, and we coordinate with our clients and their legal counsel to create a detailed work plan and timeline for each engagement.
Our professionals have experience with a variety of M&A situations, ranging from complex, multi-corporation mergers to single-owner business acquisitions. We are well-versed in all areas of these transactions and we help our clients continue running their businesses while we attend to the financial details of the agreements.
Sarbanes-Oxley Act Compliance
Our assurance services professionals have a thorough understanding of the rigorous requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 (SOX), and we have significant experience helping public companies comply with these requirements.
As our clients work to assess the effectiveness of their companies' internal control over financial reporting, entity-level controls, and IT general and application computer controls, as required by Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, we communicate with them and their outside auditors throughout the engagement to ensure expectations are in agreement.
