Our Business Valuation and Litigation Consulting Services (BVLCS) group provides high-quality, objective work, tailored specifically to each engagement.
Our team members have diverse capabilities, expertise, education, and training. They have post-graduate degrees and certifications in accounting, business valuation, fraud, insolvency, and law. These professionals have provided analyses in more than 2,000 cases and expert testimony in more than 250 cases.
Members of our BVLCS group have testified as expert witnesses before federal and state courts, regulatory commissions, IRS proceedings, arbitration, mediation, and alternative dispute resolution settings. We assist lawyers and their clients by explaining complex financial matters in understandable terms.
At SS&G, we are committed to independence, integrity, and objectivity by upholding the ethical and technical standards of professional organizations and complying with relevant regulatory standards.
In addition to our other services, we also offer a speakers bureau, continuing legal education seminars, and litigation/mock trial training to the legal community.
Litigation and Economic Damage Consulting
Given the different objectives and desired outcomes of plaintiffs and defendants, our litigation professionals pride themselves on remaining objective and producing an unbiased, supportable work product that uses the available remedies from counsel's applicable legal theory.
Our litigation and consulting experience includes breach of contract, infringement, business interruption, breach of fiduciary duties, shareholder disputes, wrongful termination, and personal injury/wrongful death. We also offer other ancillary services including reviewing the reports/work product of other experts, assisting in deposition and trial preparation, negotiating and structuring settlements, and facilitating alternative dispute resolutions.
Business Valuation
The valuation specialists in our Business Valuation and Litigation Consulting Services group have valued numerous businesses in a variety of industries, ranging from small family-owned operations to businesses with more than $500 million in revenues. We provide well-documented, objective valuations primarily of equity interests in businesses. We provide valuation services for purposes including domestic relations, shareholder disputes, civil litigation, buy/sell agreements, and succession planning, among others.
Domestic Relations
The members of our Business Valuation and Litigation Consulting Services group are sensitive to the stress and financial strain a divorce can have on families. We work diligently to complete our engagement in an efficient, professional manner, while being cognizant of the cost/benefit relationship of the task at hand. Our experience in this area includes tax, financial, and related consulting, business valuation, asset and income tracing, analysis of marital and separate property as well as corresponding appreciation issues, dispute resolution, settlement facilitation and structuring, and expert testimony.
We've been appointed as court experts, assisting judges and magistrates with complex issues related to business valuations and other financial matters often found in divorces. As members of the Center for Principled Family Advocacy, we often work with divorcing parties and counsel in an alternative environment to traditional litigation.
Insolvency and Corporate Restructuring
Our professionals are skilled at helping companies that encounter financial difficulties. We support owners, management, creditors, attorneys, and others in determining beneficial courses of action, including bankruptcy, and reasonable alternatives.
Our team members assist companies with effectively restructuring or reorganizing. We can provide interim management services to troubled companies, including oversight of day-to-day operations.
Members of our team have served as trustees, examiners, disbursing agents, receivers, and special masters, as well as financial consultants to trustees, debtors, creditors' committees, and creditors. We are privileged to have one of the few non-panel members to be repeatedly appointed as a Chapter 11 Trustee.
Fraud Detection and Deterrence
Our fraud detection and deterrence professionals have worked on a variety of engagements from simple cash embezzlement and financial statement fraud to sophisticated investment fraud. Not only do we quantify known frauds, but we provide assistance in implementing fraud deterrence techniques, training, and programs to reduce the likelihood that fraud occurs.
