Shamis and Goldfarb Named E&Y “Entrepreneur of the Year Award” Finalists
Gary S. Shamis, CPA, M.Acc., and Mark Goldfarb, CPA, whose partnership has spanned two decades, were named finalists in the 2007 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® award in the Northeast Ohio region. Together, they lead SS&G Financial Services, Inc., the Northeast Ohio-based multi-service, comprehensive accounting and business consulting firm.
Shamis and Goldfarb have led the firm together since 1987, creating one of the fastest growing independent certified public accounting and consulting firms in the nation, and the largest independent firm in Ohio. SS&G was named the 48th largest firm in the country by Accounting Today, having experienced a 26.75 percent increase in revenue in 2006, higher than the national average revenue growth of almost 17 percent. SS&G was also named one of "Ohio's Best Employers" and a "World Class Customer Service" award winner in 2007.
The pair attributes the firm's growth to the successful evolution of service offerings and the ability to attract and, more importantly, retain the most talented professionals to perform those services.
The Entrepreneur Of The Year award recognizes the men and women who excel at what they do - pioneers and innovators. The nominee(s) must be an owner/manager of a public or private company who is primarily responsible for the recent performance of the company and an active member of top management. The nominees are considered by an independent panel of judges consisting of past winners, educators business, and community leaders based upon criteria pertaining to vision, leadership, achievement, and social responsibility. The 2007 winners were announced at a gala event on June 26.
