Oct. 1 deadline for Ohio's expanded homestead exemption
The October 1, 2007, deadline for the expanded homestead exemption in Ohio (real estate exemption) is rapidly approaching. Anyone who did not previously qualify for the exemption must apply by October 1, 2007.
The exemption is available to all homeowners who are seniors (age 65 and older) or homeowners who are completely and permanently disabled. This link (http://tax.ohio.gov/divisions/communications/homestead_exemption_information.stm)will take you to the State of Ohio Web page where you can find additional information on the exemption and an application. The application must be filed with the county where the home is located.
