New California gift card law goes into effect
Effective January 1, 2008, all gift card issuers will be required to provide cash back to gift card holders for any card with a remaining value of $10 or less. Restaurants and retailers must ensure that their employees are aware of this new law and have the training required to comply with it before its effective date next week. Failure to comply may leave gift card issuers vulnerable to a variety of statutory and common law claims. Please contact a member of SS&G's Restaurant Services Group for additional information.
