Ohio municipal tax return due dates differ from federal and state
Taxpayers have extra time to file their 2006 federal and Ohio state income tax returns. April 15 falls on a Sunday this year, and April 16 is Emancipation Day, a legal holiday in the District of Columbia. This means that the due date for federal and Ohio state tax returns is April 17.
Unfortunately, a quirk in Ohio law set the due date for all municipal income tax returns as April 15, no matter if it is a weekend or other holiday. Any local Ohio returns after April 15 will be considered late and will incur the related penalties.
